Interview with Joe DeBlasio, drummer for bands such as Dollhaus Puppet and Midnight Mission

There are only a handful of people whom I look up to in life. One of them is my father. This week, I sat down with my dad, Joe DeBlasio, to talk with him about his incredible music career.

A drummer since he was a teenager, Joe has been around music almost all his life, playing live shows in the tri-state area with numerous bands and experiencing the changes in the landscape of music.

He inspired me to take up playing an instrument and even though it wasn’t drums, I still believe the musical ability and knack came from him.

Joe shares stories of some of the best venues he’s played at, what the atmosphere of playing live was like then versus today and balancing music with changing responsibilities in life.

This is an excerpt.

The full interview is available here.

Below is a video of Dollhaus Puppet performing “One Room Shack” at City Gardens in Trenton, the famous punk venue no longer standing, around 1997.
